The following is a model for various stages of the missionary endeavor. It's a farming analogy.

A farmer first enters a field. The field represents the people he is trying to reach. As he enters, there are considerations he must take into account, investments he must make. After he enters, he begins to sow seeds (God's word) among his people. Eventually, these seeds grow into disciples and the disciples eventually form churches. Throughout the endeavor, leaders are sought and equipped. Eventually, the process begins again and again. Check out this video.
