Because giving their life to Christ is an unprecedented event in the spiritual life of your friend,* this first meeting will be not so much a discovery lesson as a time of Renunciation and Consecration, explained below. (Future meetings will follow the three thirds format).
Consecration
Jesus humbly gave His life to be judged in our place (Romans 3:23-26) so that by faith we can stop trusting in our good deeds to earn God's favor (Ephesians 2:8,9, John 6:28,29).
While Jesus was indeed humble, He is also a king. And kings are to be sworn allegiance to. While understanding that only faith in Jesus' atoning sacrifice saves, have your friend pray this prayer of commitment to follow the Lord Jesus.
Renunciation
Saying "yes" to Jesus means saying "no" to our former ways of life. Our allegiance has shifted now to Christ and we renounce other spiritual worldviews and ways of thinking and behavior. Have your friend pray the following prayers** to renounce the things of the past.
* The following lessons (especially this one) have in mind those coming out of Islam and/or the effects of living in an Islamic society. If this is not the case for your disciple, you may wish to make adaptations in advance. Renunciation and Consecration are still important, but you should make appropriate adjustments depending on the worldview your disciple is leaving.
