Religion has done so many bad things. Look at what our leaders have been subjecting us to since 1979. How can you promote any religion?

I understand what you're saying. Yes, many bad things have been done in the name of God. But should we burn a rug if it has a stain on it? Should we assume that because imposed Islam has not been good for the nation that theism at large should necessarily to be rejected? On the contrary, the Christian values of humility, forgiveness and grace have been good for many societies.

But you mentioned "religion." Just to be clear; I'm not talking about a religion. A religion is about following certain rules to make it to heaven. If a person is religious, he or she is trying to do many nice things so that those good deeds will outweigh the bad things they've done. But a relationship is different from a religion. Jesus invites us to be His friend. And He laid down His life for His friends, giving His life as a sacrifice so that those who have faith in His good works will not have to rely on their own.
